How Joint Knee Pain Can Be Lessened And Properly Treated
Joint knee pain can be extremely painful, and can lead to you being unable to carry out your daily work without a great deal of discomfort. There can be many different reasons why such pain occurs, from a simple over straining and wear and tear to far more serious underlying medical conditions which will require a long term approach and highly specialized medical treatment. As with so many other conditions, prevention is far better than cure, so if you begin to notice any discomfort, make sure you rest and give yourself chance to recover. If the discomfort comes back, get the problem looked at by a trained medical practitioner.
The knees are among the most used and most tested of all body parts, as they constantly have to support the entire weight of your body while you are carrying out tasks of exertion. Any excess weight will add to the strain which the knees are put under, as will operating in uncomfortable positions and being forced to bend excessively. The extra weight can either come from loads carried during the course of a working day, or from the body being out of condition in the first place.
If you are starting to feel any degree of discomfort in the knee area, it is time to look again at your overall general health. Even being overweight by a small amount can make a difference, but if you are grossly overweight you will certainly be putting far more pressure on the knees than is necessary. Switch to a diet based on wholesome natural foods and cut out food which is far too high in saturated fat and sugar. Empty calories are converted to fat, which is then stored in the body making excess weight.
Losing weight and getting the body in a far better condition is going to be beneficial to you whatever the underlying cause of your joint knee pain. The same cannot be said, however, for rest or exercise. Although you will need to combine elements of both in any treatment, there are totally different ways in which they need to be employed. Rest is vital if the knees have been placed under stress and strain by overwork or repetitive strain, but if the condition is inflammatory, the rest can actually have a negative effect.
The most important tell tale sign of an inflammatory illness is that it is worse in the mornings after you have been resting for many hours in bed. You will wake up with your limbs stiff and with a resistance to any type of exercise. This needs to be overcome gradually, and if you can get your limbs warm and supported you will find the gentle movements a lot less painful. Gentle exercise, in the right conditions, will help you cope with joint knee pain.
